The Prophet's Mosque
One of the first and most important acts the Prophet (peace be upon him) carried out in Madinah was building his mosque, on the plot of land where his she-camel knelt when he arrived. The Prophet himself took part in the construction, carrying the bricks and stones and saying, "O Allah, there is no life but the life of the Hereafter — so forgive the Ansar and the Muhajirun." This only increased the companions' resolve.
Virtues and Status of Madinah:
- (Allah chose it to be a place of migration and a settlement for His Prophet)
- (Faith returns to it and gathers within it — the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Faith will retreat to Madinah as a snake retreats into its hole")
- (It is protected from the trial of the False Messiah)
- (It is blessed by the supplications of the blessed Prophet)
- (The Prophet declared it a sanctuary)
- (Great reward for those who reside there patiently through its hardships)
